# Riff

> Push-to-talk dictation for Mac. In early access.

Riff is a Mac menu bar app. Hold the hot key (Control-Option-R by default), talk, and let go, and Riff types the text at the caret in the app you were using. Transcription runs on the Mac with Apple Speech or Cohere Transcribe, so recordings are not uploaded. The newest 200 transcriptions stay in the menu bar history. Riff needs a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 26.4 or later. Early access copies are requested by email to humans@itrtr.com.
