Teach Riff your words

The dictionary is in Riff’s library window, in three lists. Each list has an add row at the top, and you edit an entry in place.

Words

Words are spellings Riff should prefer, such as the names of people, products, and places, and the jargon of your work. With Apple Speech, Riff passes them to the recognizer as hints when your language supports it, and Polished cleanup keeps their spelling.

Replacements

A replacement pairs what Riff hears with what it writes, such as “sequel” written as “SQL”. Riff matches whole words and ignores case. Replacements apply at every cleanup level, including Off.

Snippets

A snippet turns a trigger phrase into a block of text. Say “my address” and Riff writes your full address, or say a phrase for a sign-off, a link, or a reply you send often.

Learn from your edits

When you edit a dictation in the history and change a word, Riff suggests adding the corrected word to the dictionary. The dictionary also lists the suggestions it learned this way, so you can add them later.
