Writing on your Mac

Riff uses Apple’s on-device model for Polished cleanup, edit by voice, meeting notes, and answers to your questions. Your audio, transcripts, and notes stay on your Mac.

Apple Intelligence

Turn on Apple Intelligence in System Settings to use the writing model. Language and model availability affect whether a request can run. Long meetings are written in parts, one for each of your notes. A note’s header says “Written on this Mac”.

Without a writing model

Riff writes Basic notes from the transcript itself and uses Light cleanup for dictation. It works offline. You can retry writing notes once Apple Intelligence is ready.

Dictation cleanup explains the cleanup levels. Privacy describes where your library is kept.
